alpenrose

In a unique interior of old style Swiss restaurants, you can eat good Swiss food with the freshest ingredients for a fair price. Take your parents there when they visit. Fabrikstrasse 12.

chez babette

A nice neighborhood restaurant. I have to admit that I only had crepes there once, because everyone told me to have them there. They were okay, but to be honest the baguettes looked better. Bertastrasse 16.

g27

This is a design store as well as a restaurant. They have a changing menu with always very fresh ingredients. The kitchen is in a glass cubicle, so you can see what is cooked for you. Very nice atmosphere and good food. Unfortunately, not very cheap though. Grubenstrasse 27.

kobal

My favorite Indian place in Zurich. It's around the corner and you can eat for about 25 Swiss francs (a menu and a beer). I always take either chicken masala thosai or tandoori chicken (the sauce is really pink!). Both are amazing tasty and you certainly don't have to be scared that you can't get enough. I am there quite often (since I am not such a good cook) and I never get tired of it. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have the Ambos beer anymore (see section bars and club). Kanzleistrasse 78. (They also have a branch in Seefeld now).

josef's

Quite stylish, but not schiki-miki and a unique style of menu. You don't order an appetizer and a main course, but you order three four or five plates. They change their menu and always have a choice of about twenty plates. Anything you take will taste amazingly good. But be warned that what you get on the plate is very little, so either expect to have to go to McDonalds around the corner because you didn't have enough, or take five plates. Expensive. Josefstrasse.

pentagramma

This is the best panini place in town. No more comments needed. Just go and check it out. Josefstrasse 28.

reithalle

This used to be a riding stable. Now there is a restaurant and a bar. You can still experience the interior of the riding stable, what makes this restaurant especially charming. The have a good selection on the menu and the prices are fair. Gessner-Allee 8.

tearoom blunt

It's a Moroccan restaurant with an interior that has been brought from Morocco. Very nice atmosphere and tasty food. This is also my favorite place for eating breakfast in Zurich. I think it is only possible on the weekends though. Anyway, the yogurt with the fruit salad and honey is excellent. And the fresh peppermint even more. Gasometerstrasse 5.
